“I am not single” – D’Banj

Just a few weeks after he released a new song titled ‘Bachelor’, D’Banj has shocked a lot of single ladies, after he came out to state he was not single. 

The Kokomaster told guests during a live interview at Tymeout with Tee A concert, that anyone who thinks he is not hooked up with someone, must be joking. In his own words, he said he is ‘occupied’. 

“Even when I tell them I’m single, they don’t believe. So these days, I tell them what they want to hear. I mean look at me, at my state, would you expect that I won’t be seeing anyone?” he asked rhetorically. 

The former Mohits star, has been linked with many women in the past and is easily one of Nigeria’s most eligible bachelors. But even sources close to him have said his assertion is ‘definitely not far from the truth’. 

“Of course he’s dating. He’s a successful young man with many ladies interested in him. And he’s definitely dating. So it’s right if he says he’s not single. What no one knows is how serious these things are. And for sure, I can tell you that there are no wedding plans anywhere yet,” an insider squealed to NET over the weekend.

Koko Concert To Be Hosted By Idris Elba

8 days away from the anticipated release of the DB Records compilation album which features the remix of scapegoat with Kanye West, The koko master, D’banj, is to hold his annual koko concert, for the first time, without his old crew at defunct Mo Hits.

This time, he’ll be featuring his friends from the G.O.O.D music stable, Big Sean & Pusha T for the December 27th event in Lagos. The show which will also feature “D’banj and friends plus more special guests,” is to be hosted by Hollywood actor, Idris Elba.

D’banj Named Best African Act At 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards

MTV has announced Nigerian superstar D’banj as the Best African Act of the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, having received the most votes from fans across sub-Saharan Africa.



Hosted by supermodel, TV host and entrepreneur Heidi Klum, the 19th annual awards show was broadcast live from Frankfurt on Sunday 11 November.

D’banj has previously won Best African Act at the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards, Artist of the Year at both the 2008 and 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards, and Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards.

The Nigerian artist will now vie against India’s Alobo Naga & the Band and Ahmed Soultan from the Middle East for the chance to represent the region in the Worldwide Act category, which celebrates all the music that MTV has to offer by showcasing artists from all parts of the world. From now until 30 October, fans will be able to vote for their favorite regional act on www.mtvema.com.

The representative for the Africa/India/Middle East region will be announced on Tuesday 30 October, along with the other regional winners from Europe, Latin America, North America and Asia Pacific. These five regional nominees will then battle for votes for the “Worldwide Act” distinction, and the winner will be named at the show in Frankfurt.

Fans can vote for Europe Music Awards categories, including Best New, Best Live and more by visiting www.mtvbase.com. Voting for EMA categories is open until Friday 9 November 2012.

Dr Sid Responds To His Leaked Conversation About D'banj With Davido

Last weekend, a secret recording in which Dr Sid & Wande coal were engaged in a heated argument over Dbanj's contribution to Mohits went viral.

In the recording, Dr SID is heard talking in a rather upset tone about how his former label boss D’banj’s personality was over-shining his and the rest of the crew members.

Few hours ago, Dr Sid took to Twitter to explain that incident. Here's what he has to say:

However, this has taught me a valuable lesson on who to and not to speak with, but life must go on...

It's a sure thing that one of Africa's finest, D'banj is making us proud in the international community. 

A reader of todaysgist forwarded this to me from London and I thought it would be nice for more people to see it. Below is the short message that came with it:

Rare Photos Of Dbanj Having Private Prayers With His Mother

On Thursday, July 12, 2012, top music star, D'Banj was dragged to church by his mum as a result of a warning that entertainers should pray against death.

 This call was made by Pastor Wole Oladiyun of Christ Livingspring Apostolic Church (CLAM), Ogba, Lagos. Close sources to the Pastor told newsmen then that Pastor Wole also warned D'Banj not to join illuminati or else, he would land in hell fire.

 Weeks after the prayer, a picture has emerged online where D'Banj was captured praying fervently like a prayer warrior. His mother and the pastor joined in the prayer. Who says D'Banj is not a prayer warrior?

I Didn't Insult D'Banj, Nigeria Media Are Bunch Of Fools--Wizkid

Few days ago, news went round about a tweet purportedly tweeted by Wizkid with a twitter handle, @wizkidayo. The controversial tweet read, "baby (D'Banj), when are you going to sing with Kanye now? I hate the way he (Kanye) is using you as Akpan. See P-Square chilling with Rick Ross. Haba!"

An investigation carried out by Newsmen revealed that the controversial tweet came from a parody account of Wizkid. The said twitter handle was created on May 3, 2012. The tweet has already been deleted from the account.

Disturbed by the mixed reactions the tweet has generated, Wizkid got hard on the Nigerian media, OK Nigeria specifically. The new entrant into the Nigerian media terrain tweeted about it and asked for followers' opinion on the controversial tweet. OK Nigeria, which is a franchise of America's OK Magazine, tweeted, "Earlier today, Wizkid tweeted at D'Banj. Tell us what you think about it. This tweet got the bad side of Wizkid when he made this known with his response, "used to have a lot of respect for you guys, but you all just proved a bunch of fools. Run your sh*t! Get your facts right!"

DAVIDO CLEAR THE AIR ABOUT BEING SIGNED ON D’BANJ’S LABEL

Fast rising singer, Davido has denied that he’s signed under D’banj’s record label, D’Banj Records. 

 During an interview with Saturday Independent, the pop star expressed respect for the D’banj and said although they’re working together, he is still an independent artist under his own label. ‘I am not signed under his label at the moment.

 We are working together and he has business for me and we will see what the future holds’ he said.

 The 19-year-old, who recently launched his debut album also talked about his success, which he calls ‘sudden and unexpected.’ According to him, the secret behind his fast fame is something he doesn’t understand, but is grateful for: ‘Everything is faith.

 I cannot really explain how it happened. I don’t know how it happened…I did not plan all this.’ He also talked about his relationship with his father, saying ‘My father is a successful man, he works very hard and he is one of my mentors. I wish I could be like him.’ 

 Davido, currently a 300 level student of Babcock University, co-runs his HKN label along with his cousins and label mates, Shina Rambo and B Red.

 On Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the weekly Industry Nite in Lagos, D'Banj made a surprise appearance. 

Who won't be caught in the fever of seeing D'Banj at such event when not planned for after being in the UK for since his pre break-up era with Don Jazzy? 

 As told disclosed to Newsmen, D'Banj mounted the stage and said, "who is better than me? This he was said to have asked severally until he was embarrased by fans who shouted, 'Don Jazzy'.

D’BANJ REPS KANYE WEST AT BENIN CONCERT(PHOTOS)

D’banj is lovin’ Kanye! And it appears he has nothing against PDA. The pop giant went all out last weekend, during a concert performance in Benin, Nigeria, to celebrate his label boss, with the US rapper’s name and face conspicuously printed on D’banj’s clothing.

 D’banj performed at the concert, which was the Benin leg of Star Trek, with his brother K-Switch and his friend Ikechukwu. In December 2011, while hosting his own show at Eko Hotel in Lagos, he also went all out to honour Kanye West who, months before, had flown to London, to make a surprise appearance at D’banj’s O2 concert.
