Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Receives Her Beffta Film Icon Award In London

Top movie star Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde picked her BEFFTA FILM ICON award at a private presentation at London’s leading film studios East End Studios.

Speaking to the press in London, the star expressed her gratitude for being honoured with such a high profile award.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has become the first movie star to be awarded with the special BEFFTA honorary award in the film category, other high profile personalities who received BEFFTA special award this year include Sir Trevor McDonald OBE recipient of BEFFTA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT award.

The humanitarian and Amnesty international activist said, “this is the best award I have received on a global level, it is such an honour and I’m truly humbled that 16 years of my work in the film industry has been rewarded in a special way internationally.

 There are so many people to thank for bringing me to this level, special thanks goes to my husband for always being there, everyone that I have worked with but most importantly my fans. I love my fans so much, they are very supportive”.

BEFFTA founder Pauline Long commended Omotola for her contribution to the film industry but also for her great charitable work.The BEFFTA FILM ICON award was presented to Omotola by PR guru Theodora Ibekwe in the presence of London press and invited guests.

Genevieve Nnaji Loses Major Role to Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde

Nollywood super star Genevieve Nnaji has lost the lead role to her arch-rival Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, aka "Omo S*xy" in the big budget Nollywood movie that Teco Benson is directing now. 

 Genevieve had the role until she travelled to America and since the filmmaker did not want her to delay the film production, he decided to replace her with Omotola who is already on location this Sunday in Lekki, Lagos. More on this later.

OMOTOLA BEATS GENEVIEVE, FUNKE AKINDELE TO WIN SCREEN NATIONS AWARD

Nollywood star actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde might not have made the Forbes list of Top 40 Most Influential Celebrities in Africa like her rival Genevieve Nnaji did but will certainly be delighted to know that she has won the award for ‘Favourite West African Actress’ at the 2011 edition of the Screen Nation Film and Television Awards. 

Omos*xy edged out Nigerian actors Funke Akindele, Genevieve Nnaji, Mercy Johnson, and her Ghanaian counterparts Jackie Appiah and Ama K Abebrese. 

The awards which took place on Sunday, October 16, 2011 was held at the IndigoO2 and was hosted by Angellica Bell and Michael Underwood. Past recipients of awards include Hollywood legends Morgan Freeman and Danny Glover.

Mid afternoon on Saturday 17 sept 2011, information spewed out of the rumor mills and powered by social network sites like twitter and facebook that Nollywood star Omotola Jalade Ekehinde a k a Omos*xy has been involved in an auto crash in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja , alleging she is in a bad state. 

In minutes everybody was calling anyone that mattered in the media and showbiz community to get the true state of her wellbeing. Thanks to the same source of the ill rumor-twitter, in minutes her management company BigSam Media dispelled the rumor by posting and stating twitter she is hale and hearty.
