Mr Sultan Kosen, the current Guinness world record holder for the tallest man in the world recently got married.

30-year-old Sultan, measuring 8’3″ married his sweetheart, 20-year-old Merve Dibo, height 5’8″in Turkey on Sunday October 27, 2013.

Though the bride appeared very tiny besides her giant husband, family sources claim the two have “natural” love for each other.

Since his victory in 2009, Sultan Kosen recently gave up his search for love when almost every lady he came in contact with rejected him but alas, he came across Merve and the rest is history.

The wedding that held in his home town of Marin in Turkey yesterday was graced by several celebrities and high ranking officials in the country.

Notable figures who attended the event include Abdullah Gul, the current president of Turkey and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as religious leaders and high-profile businessmen.

World’s tallest man, Sultan Kosen who suffers from a rare genetic disorder called pituitary gigantism had to have a custom wedding suit made for him.

Apart from being the world’s tallest person, he also has the world’s biggest hands at 27.5 centimeters (11 inches) long. He wears shoes size 28.

In 2008, Doctors removed a tumour on his pituitary gland believed to be the cause of his continual growth.

‘The kids used to tease me and I found that very difficult. But now I am really proud of being tall.’ – Sultan Kosen said during a recent interview in Britain.

''Nigerian Movies Are Rubbish, Nollywood Has Flooded Africa'' – Richard Bell

Kenyan PayTV owner appeared linear in his thinking, for describing Nigerian movies as “Rubbish”. Bell, Chief Executive Officer of Wananchi Group was speaking at the East Africa Communication Conference and Exhibition which took place in Nairobi, Kenya recently, saying that “African content should not be just about rubbish Nigerian movie.” He claimed to be having the widest variety of content on DTH.

No doubt, Bell’s position completely negates a general feeling across Africa, where Nigerian movies are seen as pivot of the developing African cinema industry. And in my modest thinking, the man is more frustrated than confused in an attempt to create a non-existing business model. His unrealistic sense of reasoning; his supposed catch for a market that has been totally taken over by Multichoice appears to be his major setback, and he might just remain alone, in the cold, for a long time.

The last time I checked, ‘rubbish’ refers to a worthless material that is to be disposed of; a junk, scrap or trash. Haba! This man sure has an antecedent for careless talks. I do know that mad men sometimes make sense out of nothing. His, I cannot really place. Bell, whose fledging pay TV operation in Kenya is struggling unsuccessfully to unseat DSTV in East Africa sure did not sound well, because AfricaMagic channel is one of the major content platforms for which, he is far from catching up with his rival.

If you ask me, a viable business model is one that conforms to trend. But Bell must just be living in a virtual world and his thoughts must have astonished his audience.

Forbes, despite its criticisms, has remained a major player in covering the world of business and finance. The magazine once described Nollywood as the next big thing in world cinema. Quoting the medium; “Just believe it. Nigeria’s movie industry is thriving, and it’s about time you took notice. Fondly referred to as Nollywood, it is now an $800 million industry, providing employment for about 300,000 people as actors, directors, marketers and distributors.

“After Hollywood, it is the second largest in the worldeven bigger than India’s Bollywood. Nigerian movies are immensely popular, particularly in Africa, where they currently outsell Hollywood films, and Nollywood stars are much more popular on the continent than their Hollywood counterparts.” Such positive statements are product of research, deep thinking, objective business appraisal and not a defeatist’s notions like that of Bell.

The magazine had noted that “chances are that Kenyans or Malawians will better recognize Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nouah (both Nollywood idols), than Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington. Nollywood has come a long way from where it started 20 years ago.

“Before now, Western critics were usually quick to dismiss the quality of its productions as poor, the industry as amateurish, its talent as sloppy and its future as bleak.

Yes, like it reasoned “movies were made on the cheap- a typical budget ranged anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000. Shoots were rushed; they rarely lasted a week. Cheap digital equipment and cameras were mostly used, and directors were untrained”, but “the Nigerian movie industry is experiencing an evolution. The quality of their movies is much better than ever before; their actors are better financially compensated; directors and other professionals in the industry are travelling overseas to institutions like the New York Film Academy to hone their skills.

“Investors and businessmen are pouring more substantial financial resources into the production of better quality flicks. Nowadays, its common place to see movies produced on a 6- figure budget, which is a major improvement from the past.

“In 2009, Kunle Afolayan, a leading Nigerian movie producer, raised about $300,000 to shoot Figurine, an outstanding production which premiered on local and international cinemas and went on to win 5 stars at the African Movie Academy Awards, our very own version of the Oscars.

“Several Nigerian movie producers and directors are following suit. But this is just the beginning: Nollywood is coming of age; its producers and other leading lights are more ambitious than ever before, and they are catching up with Hollywood, slowly albeit steadily. With time, the industry will be rewarded with the critical reception it currently lacks among great world cinema.”

If the analysis made above is anything to go by, Bell should just keep quiet and get for himself, the appetite to lick the wounds of his failed business with a sorry heart.

A Word To All Women In Their Desperate Search For Mr Right

Sometimes, when a lady is all about finding her Mr Right, she misses both Mr Right and Mr Left. Be properly guided ladies!

Actress Opens Up On Going N*dé In Movies

The well endowed actress, who is known for wearing skimpy dresses, speaks on her selling point:

''One thing I would say is that, going n*de in movies does not come with the job now. What you need as an actress is your inspiration and delivery. That is the way you are able to get across to your fans.

Nobody is going to tell me I have to wear pant and bra. It does not come with the job.

Acting goes beyond that, to me it is your expression and how you are able to get across to those who look up to you. It is a thing of the mind and the choice we make.

If it comes to the character where you have to act the pros*i*ute...
We have the corporate pros*i*utes who do not expose their body because that is what they do.

Naturally I don’t like wearing a lot of things on my body when I am home. But that does not take me to the movie set and start exposing my body. Not because I am married. Sometimes you need to show some flesh, like when you are acting the role where you have to seduce a man.''

Nollywood Star Gets Personal Statue In His Honor

Veteran actor Olu Jacobs, jokingly referred to as the granddad of Nollywood has achieved great feats in the industry beyond standards he probably set for himself.

Back in the days when he acted with Omotola Jalade and Emeka Ike in “Day Break”, to some of his most current movies, the style and class he brings into his roles is second to none; from the trademark roaring voice when he is angry and intent on creating mischief especially when he gets offended or his child goes contrary to his commands, to the sweet and fatherly affection he displays when pleased, Olu has remained the same person and kept true to his core acting values that has made him beloved by many.

In the years that have past, some of his age mates who were legends in their own rights that to great Nollywood achievements including the likes of Sam Loco, Enebeli Elebuwa, Pete Eneh, and Justus Esiri, have all passed on.

So it is worth at least recognizing his great feat over the years and bestowing on him an award deserving of his status.

Even before that happens however, the legend has already received a sculpted statue of himself and Olu can certainly take pride of this because he deserves it.

The World's Most Expensive Hair Style Worth $500million

This diamond-encrusted $1million hairstyle shocked the world when it was unvield in the seventies.

Now the same jeweller, Lawrence Graff, has recreated the hair and jewel style, this time to the value of $500million to mark his 60th year in the business.

Lawrence Graff

It features 22 items of jewellery, including record breaking pieces such as earrings made from 51.53 carat and 50.76 carat D color Flawless type 11a diamonds, prized for their brilliance.

Mr Graff founder and chairman of Graff started his career aged 15 as an apprentice in Hatton Garden, London. He said of the images of the original hairstyle, in the standard on December 30, 1969; “Until this time, images showing fine jewellery were typically modelled in a more conservative style”.

This image broke the mould by using a younger model, and created the idea of diamonds being aspirational to younger women.

Nollywood actress Nuella Njubigbo who recently completed her NYSC service few weeks ago is in a serious husband-snatching scandal.

Jeta Amata Divorces Mbong and Goes For Spartacus Star

For all the fans of Jeta and Mbong Amata, I am about to break your hearts. The prolific movie director and his beautiful actress wife of five years Mbong Amata have parted ways.

They've actually been separated for about a year now but y'all are just hearing about it. And from what I gathered Jeta and Mbong didn't fight, they just decided to let each other go.

Jeta met Mbong when she was only 16 years old in Calabar in 2001 during a movie audition. He waited for her to mature and they started dating when she turned 18 two years later. In 2008, they welcomed a daughter, that same year, Jeta married Mbong. They later moved from their base in Abuja to Los Angeles so Jeta could work on his movie projects.

Continue to read why they broke up...so heartbreaking for such a young couple and maybe there's a lesson to be learnt here...

Here's what I heard happened between them. Mbong met Jeta when she was so young, married him and became a mother in her early twenties. She is a former beauty queen (Miss Akwa Ibom 2003) and her dream was to be an actress. Jeta didn't mind his wife being an actress but he didn't want her featuring in Nollywood movies, so he restricted her. Mbong, some of you may have noticed, only featured in Jeta's movies. And because she met Jeta so young, Mbong didn't get a chance to date other men, never partied and until they separated, never earned a living on her own. She relied on Jeta for everything.

When they moved to the US, it became a little worse for Mbong. She became lonely and instead of being the star actress she's always dreamed of, she became a housewife, caring for Jeta and their five year old daughter. Mbong became resentful and left Jeta in 2011 and returned to Nigeria. Jeta went after her and they reconciled after Jeta promised to give her a bit more space to pursue her dreams.

Jeta tried to live up to his promise, but as an African man, just couldn't compromise and so last year Mbong wanted out of the marriage and Jeta let her go. Mbong and Jeta have been living separately in Los Angeles for about a year now. When I asked if there was any hope for reconciliation, my source told me 'it's only a matter of time before they file for divorce. Mbong is very happy now that she can do whatever she wants without a husband to stop her or tell her what she can or can't do"

I've known Jeta Amata for a long time, since the 90's in fact and so before writing this I reached out to him to get his own side of the story, and because we are friend, Jeta opened up to me.

He confirmed that they have indeed separated & partly blamed himself for the break up. He told me;

"Mbong is an amazing mother, an incredible wife...all the time we were together she would never let any other person cook my food...she was faithful and good to me and gave me the best gift in the world, our beautiful daughter. If I didn't cage her so much maybe we would still be together. I stole her youth and didn't let her live her dream so it was better to let her go and find new adventures. She's happy and so am I. Despite the fact that we are no longer together, we are still good friends. She even lives close to me here in LA. Things are great between us and I'm happy to see her happy."

Since the separation Mbong has featured in two Nollywood movies, one of them is Forgetting June produced by Emem Isong, which she came back to Nigeria to shoot. She also revealed her sexy bikini body some months back. Y'all didn't know she was a single woman then...pic below...

As for Jeta, I heard he now has a new girlfriend. Jeta is dating Australian actress Viva Bianca, best known for her role as Ilithyia in Spartacus (Pic below)

Viva is starring in Jeta's new movie project - Road to Redemption, which also features Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson and pop star, Akon. Jeta and Viva have been dating for many months now and were even spotted in Las Vegas recently. When I asked Jeta about his relationship with Viva, he didn't want to talk about it.
