Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey Went 'Too Far' In Feud, Ryan Seacrest Says

'American Idol' host addresses the 'heated' argument between the two judges after footage leaks online from auditions in Charlotte.

Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey sparked headlines on Tuesday (October 2) when a video leaked of the pair arguing at "American Idol" auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina. The snippet captures a heated dispute between the two performers as the fiery MC takes shots (and throws F-bombs) at Carey.

On Wednesday, "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest opened up about the incident during his morning radio show, offering up some insider knowledge on what went down between the two women. "There was a very heated, intense argument towards the end of the day after a contestant did a little bit of a performance in the room.

Keith [Urban] was sitting there, Randy [Jackson] was sitting there. Of course, Nicki and Mariah both there. I was outside. I was outside with the contestant's family at the time. Both of these judges, as I have said before, come with different perspective," he explained of the mid-audition fight. He added that while both women bring opposing viewpoints to the panel, this argument "went a little far."

In the footage, a pink-haired Nicki reportedly requested that she not be referred to as a "gangster" and added, "I'm not f---ing putting up with her f---ing highness." For her part, Carey complained that "I can't see my kids, because you decided to act like a little crazy bitch."

Seacreast added, "And, so, yeah, it was heated. It did go too far, to the point where the producers said with just a few more contestants left, 'Let's call it a day.' And, [they] called a 'wrap'.

So, today [October 3] is a second day of auditions in Charlotte, with that panel. And when you look at what the producers and Fox put together for this season, both of them, all of them, the four of them are essential components to what makes up the entire sum of the panel and provides that different perspective and that interesting point of view."

While it's unknown for now what exactly sparked the fight, Seacrest did offer this explanation. "Nicki's got a specific perspective about what's playing and hot on the chart right now.

Mariah has got that iconic experience and that legend status, being one of the greatest singers alive. And, of course, Keith and Randy provide their different perspective," he said. "But, you know when you put Nicki and Mariah and Keith and Randy together that you're going to have different opinions, which is fantastic."

Day two in Charlotte will not only allow a new batch of contestants to audition in front of the lively judging panel, but also those who didn't get the chance to audition on Tuesday. Regardless of how those auditions panned out, the woman who was in the room when the argument erupted did eventually get the thumbs up to move on to Hollywood.

It may also mark the first time that Minaj and Carey have spoken since the incident. "Let's see after last night, I don't know [if they talked]. [It's] inevitable we're going to be working there in a few hours... So, I can answer more of that tomorrow," he said.

Prior to the Charlotte incident, Carey and Minaj had laughed off rumors that they felt any animosity toward one another. However, Carey did note that perhaps it was still too early for any beef to have been cooked up at a September press conference. She said, "How are we gonna feud in two days? A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that]."

Nicki Minaj just kidding about that GOP 'endorsement'

Memo today from Nicki Minaj to Mitt Romney and President Obama: "Just kidding, guys!" To the surprise of no one, and probably the relief of GOP presidential candidate Romney, the chameleon/rapper known as Nicki Minaj has clarified that she was just playing one of her many characters when she declared last week in a song lyric that she's a Republican intending to vote for Mitt. Obama, for one, was always skeptical, he said in a radio interview in Orlando on Monday.

"She likes to play different characters," he said. Minaj was thrilled he noticed, according to her tweet in response. "Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do. *sends love & support* @BarackObama."

Minaj, who has previously expressed support for Obama, made the startling claim about "endorsing" Romney in a profane song lyric as a guest artist on Lil Wayne's new mixtape, Dedication 4, released last week.

It was not clear that clean-mouthed Romney knows who she is, let alone that he would welcome such a four-letter "endorsement." Still, the news caused a frisson of speculation to fire up the pop-music blogosphere and the political world, much of which was in Charlotte last week for the Democratic convention.

But it was always a stretch to believe Minaj had suddenly switched teams given her record of adopting different personalities and characters in her performances and in her life, which is sort a performance, too.

While she might not be on either the Romney or Obama iPods, even Obama admitted that his young daughters are now hipper than he when it comes to pop culture.

Nicki Minaj has used shock value to stay in the spotlight and to standout from other hip-hop acts. But it looks like her latest video for BET went a little too far.

The network is refusing to show "Stupid Hoe," according to TMZ. The network, which had long been criticized for airing s*xually suggestive music videos, wouldn't say why they chose to keep the clip off the air, but TMZ cites sources that said the video — in which Nicki repeat the refrain "You a stupid hoe" over and over and shows what appears to be her bare buttocks — to be too raunchy.

The video hasn't been getting much love on YouTube either:as of this morning, nearly two-thirds of all the people who voted on the video have "disliked it."

I once contemplated suicide

Nicki Minaj is arguably the biggest female in hip-hop, but the 28-year-old admits that just a few years ago, she felt completely worthless.

"I kept having doors slammed in my face," Minaj tells the November issue of "I felt like nothing was working. I had moved out on my own, and here I was thinking I'd have to go home."

Things got so bleak that Minaj contemplated suicide. "It was just one dead end after another. At one point, I was, like, 'What would happen if I just didn't wake up?' That's how I felt.

Like, 'Maybe I should just take my life?'" With her dark days now behind her, Minaj (real name: Onika Tanya Maraj) predicts her star will only become brighter with time.

"I will have put out five albums and will have an Oscar and Grammys," she says. "And I will be getting married and, a couple of years after that, will have a bun in the oven. My whole life is about being Nicki Minaj now. It's a never-ending saga."

Willow Smith, Nicki Minaj Ignite 'Fireball'

It's been over a year since Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" takeover, and since then, the 10-year-old rising pop darling has released follow-up single "21st Century Girl" and has been steadily working on her Roc Nation debut album.

On Wednesday (October 5), Smith dropped a Nicki Minaj-assisted party single, "Fireball," to appease her growing fanbase.

Offering world-premiere duties to New York Hot 97 DJ Angie Martinez's afternoon radio show, "Fireball" is a drum-heavy party tune, where the young starlet gets feisty, shows her swagger and proclaims herself the center of attention.

"See, I never been the one to toot my own horn/ Beep beep, now watch me put it on/ I set fire everywhere I play/ Make them all go insane, L.A. to U.K.," Smith sings with confidence.

She keeps the energy going by delivering a simple hook when she repeatedly boasts, "I'm the fireball of the party/ I'm the fire" atop a layer of chants.

Minaj chimes in about two minutes into the song, sharing bragging rights with Smith, offering her usual rapping eccentrics and even name-dropping the singer's famous parents.

"Put you under my wing, I'm the top boss/ Ain't from Louisiana, but I'm hot sauce/ Cop the mountain, just to go and build a house off so I ain't never got to worry what the house cost," the MC spits.

Artwork for the song, which has been posted on the singer's Facebook page, depicts the singer's signature nameplate inside an orange-lit fireball. On Monday, Smith teased fans about the single's debut via Twitter, writing, "My new single is coming soon, really soon, like maybe tomorrow soon:) "Whip My Hair" producer Ronald "Jukebox" Jackson, who revealed that the pop starlet is close to finishing her full-length debut album.

"I did like eight, nine songs on Willow, so right now, we're in the process of just trying to close out the album," he said. "It's just the whole process. You got to think about it: She's a 10-year-old girl. She's gotta have a life; she's gotta be a kid."

Nicki Minaj Recalls Pre-Success Suicidal Thoughts

Nicki Minaj has soared to the top of the charts and collaborated with pop icons. With all of that success, it's hard to imagine that the Young Money MC once felt completely down on life.

In the November issue of Cosmopolitan, the Harajuku Barbie opens up about a range of topics, including a particularly dark period when the MC actually considered taking her own life.

"I kept having doors slammed on my face," Minaj recalled of her pre-fame struggles. "I felt like nothing was working. I had moved out on my own, and here I was thinking I'd have to go home. It was one dead end after another. At one point, I was, like, 'What would happen if I just didn't wake up?' That's how I felt.

Like maybe I should just take my life?" Having gotten past those low points, the MC tells the magazine that she has firm plans for a bright future. "I will have put out five albums and will have an Oscar and Grammys," she predicted.

"And I will be getting married and, a couple of years after that will have a bun in the oven. ... My whole life is about being Nicki Minaj now. It's a never-ending saga." Fresh off the release of her collabo with Willow Smith, Minaj had some words of wisdom to share about the differences between her and another star:

Lady Gaga. The Queens native said that while both embrace over-the-top fashion, for the MC, it's not a 24/7 routine. "I think Gaga is freakin' dope for that," she said. "But I can't be bothered. Give me my sweats. I like transforming from completely raggedy to 'Ahhh, I'm ready.' That transformation gives me a high."
