Stay Away From Married Men – Karen Igho Advises Nollywood Actresses, Others

If there is one sector that has given the entertainment industry in Nigeria a bad name, it would be the motion pictures industry called Nollywood. From cases ranging from husband snatching to high rates of divorce, fights, jealousy and many more. 

It is an understatement to say that in every three marriages in Nollywood, there would be one surrounded with controversies. It is not that those in the music industry do not have their bad sides, but Nollywood seems to be too much.

For 2011 Big Brother Africa winner, Karen Igho, who is also an On Air Personality (OAP) with Naija FM, the occurrence might have been getting unbearable for her as a lady when she took to twitter to make her mind known about it.

Karen dropped a message for ladies which also included single Nollywood actresses who run after married man and warned that the law of karma awaits them because they will get what they do in full measure, shaken, pressed down and overflowing.

“Girls (including Nollywood actresses), stay away from married men or guys with girlfriends because what goes around comes back around (karma),” the Warri, Delta State Nigerian star tweeted.

‘MONEY CAN’T BUY MY LOVE’

She may have deceived us in the past about her relationship status but 2011 BBA co-winner, Karen Igho is still single and seems prepared to mingle.

 In a series of messages posted on her Twitter handle, the 27-year-old gave reasons why she’s still single. 

 Starting on a rather emotional note, Karen tweeted, ‘In the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take, the relationshipswe were too afraid to have, & the decisions we took too long to make’. 

 Afterwards, she gave a brief description of herself and the reason for her waiting ‘Am a ride or die chick,I will go through hell and back for my man even drink garri and ground nut.dats why am waiting for the right one’. 

 Finally, she concluded saying ‘Money can’t buy my love’, a message that seemed to explain so many things. Karen Igho who is presently an OAP with Naija FM is also an actress, model and runs a clothing line, Karenified.

To understand this press release from Karen's camp, you have to understand what initially happened. There were speculations last week that Ms Igho refused to do a magazine cover shoot with her former Zimbabwean BBA housemate, Vimbai. Read the statement below to get the gist...

A press release allegedly by a representative of Vimbai Mutinhiri (former BBA housemate from Zimbabwe) on the viral social media story – which suggests that the effervescence Ms Karen Igho, deliberately refused to be part of a photo shoot session with her for ‘Miss Dee’ magazine.

While this release frowns on any form of ‘She said, he said’ controversy, Ms Karen’s love for her ever supportive fans and media friends made her request that her position be made public.

Ms Igho was approached in Abuja on the 4th September, 2011 by the publisher of Miss Dee magazine at a casual meet to participate in a photo shoot for the magazine, but no exact time was proposed because at the time Ms Karen was preoccupied with spending quality time with her family in Jos; more so as she had just returned from the BigBrother Africa house and needed a relief from the Amplified euphoria.

However, Ms Karen recently got a call with respect to the photo shoot, but for her engagement with her friend, Mr Denrele Edun on the ‘Heavy Beauty’ movie production set she could have gladly obliged. Hence, it is not practical that Ms Igho who was on a movie set in Lagos refused or walked away from being part of a photo shoot session with Vimbai in Abuja.

Ms Karen has being in frequent communication with housemates, even proven with the time spent with Millicent (Kenya) when she came to Nigeria in spite of the ‘House’ confrontations between both during the BBA game episode.

To further reinforce Ms Karen Igho’s friendly disposition to her fellow housemates from BBA Amplified; Ms Karen had begun sending out official invites to WENDALL PARSON (Zimbabwe), LUCLAY ‘MR OTONO’ (S/Africa), WEZA SOLANGE (Angola), LOMWE (Malawi), MUMBA MWAKWA (Zambia), BERNADINA BUYS (Nambia) and their country counterparts in the BBA house in anticipation of a reunion party in Nigeria towards her April 6th birth date celebration. The weekend activity will feature the launch of Ms Karen’s T-shirt line, a BBA housemates’ media tour, charity visits to orphanage homes and the media launch of her upcoming reality TV shoot (details will be made explicit in a release towards the event).

It is Ms Karen’s view that if Vimbai has something to say to her friend, Mr Denrele Edun it’s best done through inter-personal communication and she frowns at any insinuation of ‘war’ with anyone, as in the words of the Destiny Child’s song ‘Survivor’ Miss Karen is better than that.

HOW DENRELE EDUN MADE KAREN IGHO RICH AND FAMOUS

Karen Igho hit it big when she won the Big Brother Amplified Reality Show,but what most people don’t know is weird fashionistas and Channel O presenter, Denrele Edun actually played a major role in her success story.

In a recent interview with Saturday Sun, Denrele opened up on how he made Karen rich and famous.

According to Denrele, he got the Big Brother Africa’s application form Karen. “Karen and I met in 2007, when she gate-crashed into my birthday party; there and then we hooked up, exchanged numbers and became friends.

She told me about her plans of going for a reality show. Then I just finished hosting the Next Movie Star so the following year I got her onto the show and she ended up among the top 7.

After that, I got her a role in Omo Ghetto part 2 for her to have a feel of what movie production really looks like. I also helped her into Timaya and Tu Shots’ music video.

After all these, she asked me what next?

Then , I remembered the BBA application form and that the deadline was the following day, so I took the form to her hotel room for her to fill.

I even filled the form for her because her handwriting was very horrible, you know, she is as hyperactive as I am. She is never settled. I asked her things I didn’t know about her and filled the form for her.

Of course, this is an industry that is not fair to anybody. Nobody cares about what the next person is doing.

If you see people who try to move the next person forward, please encourage them. For me, it is not a competitive industry but everybody sees the other person as a competitor.

This is an industry that is so vast and there is enough place for everyone, and we all can make things happen. If I can be relevant since 1995 to this very day, it is because of my input in other people’s life. I invest in people and I don’t want any money from anybody. I don’t want anything from Karen. She is just a friend and I am happy that she has attained this level and I am part of her success story.

There are so many people like that who I have helped. I took Brymo to Chocolate City, look at him today. Even Bracket, I helped pushed their song, Yori-Yori. There are so many that come to me everyday for help and I do my best for them.”
