Chuddy K Kicked Out Of The Headies 'Next Rated' Nomination

The organisers of 2012 TheHeadies have announced a slight change to the nominations for the 'Next Rated' category of the awards. This was conveyed to us via a press statement made available to us. 

 The statement read, "This is to announce that talented rising artiste; Chuddy K has been taken off the nominees list for the “Next Rated” category of The Headies 2012 Awards. 

 Evidence has emerged that Chuddy K previously released an album titled “I Am Me” in 2010 and therefore will not be listed in the Next Rated category. Judges of the prestigious annual music awards have now taken Chuddy K off the Next Rated category and have now replaced him with talented rapper, Flowssick.

 Following the rules of the “Next Rated category over the years, this category for the awards is for the. most promising upcoming officially unreleased act in the year under review. The prize for this category also comes with a brand new car courtesy The Headies. 

 Past winners of this category include Wande Coal, Asa, Skuki, Overdose, Omawumi and Wizkid.The Next Rated Category nominees are now DavidO, Eva Alordiah, Praiz and Flowssick. 

 The Headies 2012 is scheduled to hold at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, in Lagos on Sunday October 20, 2012. Iconic hip-hop act M.I and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Omawumi will host the highly anticipated event."

BREAKING NEWS: PSQUARE, BEZ LEAD NOMINATIONS FOR THE HEADIES 2012!



As another edition of one of the most prestigious music awards in Nigeria, The Headies draws nearer, the nominees for this year’s awards have been revealed!

Pop giants Psquare, Soul-Jazz singer Bez Idakula lead the nominees list with six nods each.

The twin pop duo released their fifth album last year with the smash hit singles ‘Chop my money’ and ‘Beautiful Onyinye’ both garnering international remixes from US acts Akon and Rick Ross respectively. They received nods in the ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Artiste of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Pop single’, ‘Best R&B-Pop Album’ and ‘Best Collabo’ categories.

Bez who is signed to Cobhams Asuquo’s C.A.M.P is nominated in the ‘Recording of The Year’, ‘Recording Of The Year’, ‘Best R ‘N’ B Single’, ‘Best R ‘N’ B/ Pop Album’, ‘Best Collabo’, and ‘Best Vocal Performance’ categories. The 28-year-old released his debut ‘Super Sun’ mid-2011.

The likes of ‘Superstar’ rapper Ice Prince, pop sensations Wizkid, Davido and Soul singer Praiz follow closely with four nods each.

Pop giants D’banj and Wande Coal, rappers Naeto C, Vector, Olamide and pop singer Chuddy K trail with three nominations.

A keenly contested category is as expected the ‘Artiste of the Year’ which is occupied by P-Square, Wizkid, Ice Prince, Naeto C and D’Banj. All five acts have had a brilliant run in the last year.

Another interesting category is the ‘Producer of the year’ slot which will see the likes ofCobhams (Stupid Song by Bez), Tee-Y Mix (Super C Season album by Naeto C), Shizzi (Dami duro by Davido), Jesse Jagz (E.L.I by Ice Prince) and J Sleek (Private Trips by Wande Coal) slug it out for the coveted prize.

Modenine for the first time in the last five years is missing from the ‘Lyricist on the Roll’ categories. Those nominated include – rappers Vector, Yung6ix, Iceberg Slim, Phyno and South-South rapper Erigga.

The Headies 2012 will hold on Sunday October 20, at the Eko Hotels in Lagos

Lagos|Nigeria Organizers of the annual urbane music awards The Headies (Hip hop world awards) have revealed the first set of artistes who will be thrilling guests and delivering series of remarkable performances at the upcoming event.
Olamide, MI, Flavour, Brymo, Waje, Muna, Tiwa Savage, Ice prince, Omawumi and Dr Sid are the first set of performers to be announced for this year’s edition. Fast rising female sensation Tiwa Savage and Coded Tunes act Olamide are the first set of artistes booked to perform at this year’s show, while Chocolate City’s Iceprince and Brymo will be performing one of Nigeria’s favorite songs “Oleku” on their first Hip hop world Awards debut. MI and Flavor will also make their mark as MI makes an appearance on the Headies stage for the second time, after an exciting performance at the 2009 edition held in Abuja.

Smooth R&B Powerhouse Banky W has always brought a new dimension to stage craft. In 2008, he performed at the 3rd edition of Hip hop world Awards held at Planet One Maryland Lagos. In 2009, he made another appearance at the International Conference Centre Abuja where he opened the show and thrilled attendees as he performed “Strong Tin”. This year, he will be joined on stage by Sound Sultan as they perform fans favorite “Very Good Bad Guy”. 

That’s not all! Lyricist Sound Sultan and Flavor will also perform smashing hit single “Orobo” at the Headies 2011. “These are artistes we are all familiar with. Their involvement with the Headies will guarantee one thing! – This year’s edition will be the best and exciting so far!” Ayo Animashaun who started the awards in 2006 says. Bringing rap and R&B sound to The Headies stage is former beauty queen Muna and talented singer Waje.

The duo has enjoyed an amazing 2011, receiving massive airplay for “So Inspired”. Mo hits record’s Dr Sid is one of the biggest acts in the country right now. Known for hit tracks like “Something about you”, “Pop something”, “Bamijo” and “Over the moon”. It is likely that Sidney Esiri and Omawumi will be the only acts who would not follow this year’s collaboration theme.

The awards ceremony known for its innovative and trailblazing concepts started in 2006, and fast became one of the top events in Nigeria’s annual music calendar. Organizers have single-handedly revolutionized the approach and manner; awards are organized and structured in the country.

Urging Nigerian musicians to “Standout, Surpass, Break from the norm, this year’s Hip hop World Awards will hold at will hold at the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos on Saturday, October 22, 2011. The awards celebrate contemporary genres and personalities loved by the youths and young adults all over the country including Rap, R&B, pop and other genres.

THE HEADIES TO HOLD IN LAGOS, OCTOBER 22

It might have taken a while but the organizers behind the popular awards The Headies (formerly known as Hip hop world awards) have finally announced the venue and date for the awards. According to organizers, the urban music awards which are aimed at ‘rewarding musical excellence and outstanding creativity’ will hold at the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos on Saturday, October 22, 2011.

As announced earlier, veteran producer and rapper eLDee da Don, and talented actress Rita Dominic will be hosting the awards show which will showcase spectacular performances from the country’s finest artistes. ‘We took all this time to come up with concepts that will surpass the previous editions; we are glad to raise the standard again, far above what we have set over the years. 

This year, a lot of obvious changes will be seen, I can assure you of this’ Ayo Animashaun who founded the awards in 2006 says This year, Fifty Eight (58) artistes will battle to win a desirable ‘Heady’ (made up of 21 carat gold) in one of twenty categories including ‘Next rated category’, ‘Album of the year’, ‘Artiste of the year’, ‘Song of the year’, ‘Recording of the year’ ,’Producer of the year’, ‘Best music video’, ‘Best RNB single’, Best Pop single’ and Best RNB/Pop album’ Other categories include ‘Best Rap Single’, ‘Best Rap album’, ‘Lyricist on the roll’, ‘Best Collabo’, Best Vocal Performance (Male), ‘Best Vocal performance (Female), ‘African Artiste of the year’, ‘Best street hop’, ‘Revelation of the year’, and ‘Best Conscious music’ Performers for this year are to be announced shortly.
