Clarion Chukwura Wins 2014 AMAA Best Actress, talks about beef with Ibinado

It's been a long time coming for one of Nollywood finest actress Clarion Chukwura, who just won Best Actress in a leading role at the 2014 AMAA awards which held on Saturday May 24th. She has been grazing our screen with very impressive performances for decades and this is one well deserved award.As she rocks and thanks all her fans, she isn't done with attacking Ibinabo Fiberesima, the AGN president.

In a new interview with Yes magazine, Clarion said her recent attacks on Ibinabo is not based on jealousy, because her brand is way bigger than Ibinabo's brand, but only trying to bring dignity back into the guild...

 "If Ibinabo recognized me as a senior colleague, she would have picked up her phone and called me at one point or the other, before or during her leadership. She had never done so. That is one. Two, I was privileged, with the manner she spoke during the issue of the murder case for which she was convicted, and I didn't see that attitude as someone you should dialogue with. Three at the Nollywood at 20 event, there was not that kind of rapport that okay, you are my senior colleague, at the helm of the leadership of the guild, if you have anything that can assist me in my position, you can please reach out to me. Ejike Asiegbu called on me and I assisted and played my role in every area he asked me to play my role. Zack Orji invited me at one point or the other to and we worked together" she said.

When she was asked why she did not lead the AGN sometime back when she was approached to do so, Clarion responded; 

"Thank You, I was approached in 2003 to be President of AGN. Myself and Emeka Rollas were approached and I accepted. Then I printed posters and started campaigning. Then came the issue that in the East, the state chapter members, the elders said they respect me but that they are not yet ready for a woman to be President. So they said Zack Orji should run for President and I should run for Vice President but I rejected that arrangement and I should support Zack Orji for president. That for me, it is either President or nothing! I would rather be President or stay out of it. So they should cast their minds back to 2003. He should talk of what happened and not misrepresent me, and I repeat, they should stop making this about Clarion Chukwurah attacking Ibinabo Fiberisima because before God and Man, as an actor, as a star, my brand is bigger than Ibinabo Fiberisima's brand. Whether as a president of AGN or not, they must not loose sight of that fact. So this is not an issue between us. If they push me, I would have this constitution published to the world. This constitution that was amended in March 2012 was done to work for Ibinabo Fiberisima. This constitution has nothing in it. There is nothing spelt out in this constitution that the AGN leadership has something tangible to do for its members. Only burial and marriage. When someone wants to get married, the person gets Fifty thousand naira(N50,000)  and when it is burial, the NEC decides on how much to give. There is nothing in this constitution for the actors. I am well known as one who believes in Legacy. I am an activist, I am well known as such. I am a tested and trusted person. I do not need to be President before you know this. If I become the President, I would not be going to be asking for money but rather I would be calling on the private sector to fulfill their obligations to the acts as spelt out in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria"

WHY JIM IYKE SHUNNED AMAA

Sources close to top actor Jim Iyke,who anchored the 7th edition of African Movie Academy Awards,AMAA held in Bayelsa State last year, revealed that he was listed as A-class actors to receive VIP ticket for the show that held at Eko Hotel and Suites penultimate Sunday.

He was said to have received his ticket as early as Tuesday and informed his close pals that he will storm the event in grand style with an entourage of seven men.

According to those who peddle the gist, gorgeous Jim Iyke declared his intentions towards AMAA on Wednesday, April 19 and was said to have gotten all his designer wears ready.

However, the actor was nowhere around the venue during that bright evening, allowing his Limousine ride arranged by the organizers of AMAA to waste.

It was disclosed that this Anambra State born actor who is usually associated with mood swings, called his friends on Friday morning and related to them that he will no longer grace AMAA.

When asked why, he revealed that he cannot face the press.

He insisted that if there is any way he will appear inside the hall without passing through the red carpet, he will attend the event.

As it is impossible to find himself in the hall without passing the longest red carpet ever seen in any event in recent times, the actor shunned the event.

As gathered,Jim Iyke abandoned the award because of the bad image he garnered last year, especially his alleged N15million scam court case with an ex-girl friend.

The recent allegation that he was also beaten to pulp over a babe in Cameroun has not died down completely despite his very plausible denials.

WHY OMOTOLA MAY SHUN AMAA AWARD

She is regarded as one of Africa’s best actresses by fans. And of course she has proved her worth over the years by excellently interpreting several movie roles. But despite this endorsement from fans, Nollywood star actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde may not exactly be in the best of moods at this moment.

Yes, it appears that Omo-S*xy is currently very angry and you would not need to search far for the cause of her anger. Just few days ago, the continent’s most prestigious award, the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) announced its 2012 nominations in Gambia.

And while Nigerian actresses like; Nse Ikpe- Etim, Rita Dominic and Uche Jombo were nominated for the Best Actress in a Leading Role category, Omotola was nominated for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role alongside Empress Njamah and Thelma Okoduwa. Omotola was nominated for her role in Ties That Bind.

However, Cocktail Whispers gathered that the nomination for a ‘Supporting Role’ category was said to have angered Omotola as well as set tongues wagging online as many people are of the opinion that she is far worth more than that award.

It was learnt that the anger emanated from the fact that the actresses that comprised nominees for the Actress in a Leading Role category are not as ‘big’ as Omo-S*xy. Moreover, she is said to be a ‘bigger’ actress than the other actresses in the category she was nominated for.
