Genevieve broke my heart in Germany

Isaac Izoya, CEO, Ehizoya Golden Entertainment, came into entertainment prominence in 2003 when he invited some Nollywood stars to perform at his Integration Show in Germany.

Working with movie director and friend, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, Izoya ferried to Germany, albeit on his own expenses, Nollywood stars like Jim Iyke, Aki and Pawpaw, Mr. Ibu, Victor Osuagwu, Patience Ozokwor, Mercy Johnson, Ramsey Noah, comedians Basket Mouth, Julius Agwu, I go Dye, and Maleke, who all performed and did Nigeria proud.

In fact, for some of the stars, it was an unforgettable experience because it was the first time they will travel to Europe. Since then, Izoya has brought to Germany other music stars like J. Martins, and Olu Maintain of ‘Yahooze’ fame. Only recently, dance hall exponent, Timaya performed at the opening of FIFA Women World Cup in Germany.

This was made possible by Izoya. Here, the Edo State-born show promoter and cultural ambassador speaks about his odyssey in Europe, relationship with Nollywood stars, challenges, and how Genevieve broke his heart.

Sincerely, I won’t forget an experience in 2003 when Genevieve failed to honour our invitation, and also the show that had Eedris Abdul Kareem on the bill.

Both shows ended in a fiasco because Genevieve failed to show up and Eedris couldn’t perform. Indeed, the fans became unruly and a fight broke out that scattered the show and made us lose huge sum of money.

I also remember the show that had an Edo State-based gospel singer that did not go well. Fans that requested for the artiste shunned the show and we lost money. In fact, I almost quit show business because of the unfortunate incidents
