Fast Money!!! Popular Comedian, Caught With Cocaine At Enugu Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, yesterday arrested two foreigners for drug trafficking at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA,  Enugu.

The suspects, a 54-year-old Ghanaian comedian, Musah Iddrisu aka Charles Udunehi and a citizen of Congo Democratic Republic, Inana Cedrick were apprehended at the airport during inward and outward screening of Ethiopian airline passengers.

The Ghanaian, Iddrisu, was said to have bought 450 grammes of cocaine for US$19,000 which he ingested on his way to Thailand while Cedrick, a student, was caught with 1.500 kilogrammes of heroin.

Speaking on the arrest, NDLEA Commander at the Enugu airport, Mr. Nsikak-Abasi Udoh, said Inana Cedrick was caught with 1.500 kilogrammes of heroin while Musah Iddrisu was found to have ingested 450 grammes of cocaine.

Udoh added that a Nigerian, Mr. John Obi Nwadilichukwu, was also apprehended by officials of the anti-narcotic agency.

He said: “The Ghanaian comedian ingested 450 grammes of cocaine on his way to Thailand while the student from Congo DRC imported 1.500kg of heroin into the country. We have also apprehended a Nigerian by name John Obi Nwadilichukwu, who was to receive the student, collect the drug and pay him for smuggling it.”

Meanwhile, Chairman of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, has said adequate security efforts had been made to apprehend drug traffickers at the Enugu International Airport.

He said: “We have already deployed our officials to the Enugu airport before it commenced international flights. Adequate security measures have been put in place to apprehend drug traffickers at the airport.”

According to him, all the suspects have made confessional statements and would soon be charged to court.

The student, Inana, said that he was given the drug by a Nigerian woman at Nairobi to deliver to her husband in Enugu, noting that he wanted to use the money that he would be paid in buying beads which he would sell in Tanzania.

He said: “I was given the drug in Nairobi by a Nigerian woman who told me to give it to her husband, John Obi Nwadilichukwu, who resides in Enugu. I wanted to use the money they promised to pay me in buying beads for sale in Tanzania. I am a secondary school student from a poor home.”

Also, the Ghanaian comedian, Musah Iddrisu, said he wanted to sell the drugs in Thailand, adding that he went into drug trafficking because he was broke.

According to him, “I am a Ghanaian and a comedian by profession. I got involved in drug trafficking because of my financial predicament. I bought the drugs in Ghana, ingested it and came to Enugu airport. As a new airport, I felt the security will not be like other airports but I was caught. I regret my action.”

Baba Suwe says his arrest was a Set-up

Popular Nollywood comedian and actor, Babatunde Omidina also known as Baba Suwe on Sunday narrated his experience to journalists in Lagos after his 24 day detention in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency [NDLEA].

Baba Suwe who declined to say much but spoke mostly through his lawyer, Mr Bamidele Aturu, said his arrest was a set-up, explaining that he was arrested even before he was taken to the scanner machine for a test.
 He also claims he was subjected to highly demeaning treatments by the NDLEA officials.


When asked how many times he had excreted before his release, Omidina said he had excreted “more than 15 times”. 


He went on to explain that while he was waiting in line at the airport, a certain woman walked up to him and asked him to go to the officers of the NDLEA before he even underwent any tests or scan.
When asked if he had ever been apprehended for any crime outside Nigeria, Baba Suwe responded “you can check my passport, I haven’t spent more than one month and two weeks abroad”. 


His Lawyer, Mr Aturu told newsmen that the NDLEA has no case against him, and they even returned all his personal belongings on his release, but his legal team is still heading back to court to sue the agency for the dehumanising experience Baba Suwe had while in custody of the NDLEA.

Baba Suwe excretes again without any trace of drug

The popular Yoruba comic actor, Alhaji Omidina Babatunde otherwise known as Baba Suwe who is being held at the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) yesterday made his second excretion without any trace of drug found.

Yesterday excretion has made it the second Baba Suwe has excreted since his arrest by the anti-narcotic agency.

Sources in the NDLEA said even though no drug has been found in the excretion he passed out that the actor will still remain in the agency’s custody until they are convinced otherwise.

When asked what the agency will do should no drug be found on him, the source said the Yoruba actor will be left off the hook.

While saying Baba Suwe is still a suspect up till now, the NDLEA source lamented that the media should be blamed for blowing open the case while it was still under investigation.

According to the source, ordinarily, the anti-narcotic agency will never make open to the public any case under investigation until such has been proven.

There has been conflicting reports on the true position of things with the ace actor with a section of the media reporting on Saturday that Baba Suwe made the first excretion on Friday while others said he was yet to.

When asked when the actor will likely be released, the NDLEA source said there was no time yet as he will still continue to remain in the custody of the agency.

The ace actor was to board an Air France flight to Paris at about 10pm on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos when he was arrested on the suspicion that he carried drug.

Importer arrested for possessing cocaine

An automobile importer, Ofodili Ifeanyichukwu Victor, 47, was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos with powdery substances which tested positive for cocaine weighing 1.300kg.

He was intercepted during the screening of passengers on British Airways flight to London Heathrow airport last weekend.

Ofodili, who excreted 70 capsules while on observation, said he invested five million naira (N5, 000,000:00) into the illicit drug business in expectation of twenty-five million naira (N25, 000,000:00) to increase his capital base.

Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Ahmadu Giade who expressed satisfaction with the arrest described it as very remarkable. “This arrest is remarkable given the profile of the suspect. Recent arrests recorded by the Agency have drastically altered risk profiling parameters in the country. Every route is now classified as high risk just as every passenger is assumed a potential drug trafficker.

 We shall continue to adapt our strategies to meet the dynamic trade in narcotics. Any investment in drug trafficking should be considered lost” Giade warned.
