Wiz Khalifa Sued By Pa. Man For $2.3 Million

A Pittsburgh rapper is suing hip hop star Wiz Khalifa for $2.3 million over allegations that he stole the hit song "Black and Yellow."

Max Warren performs under the stage name Maxamillion. He says Khalifa's chart-topper "Black and Yellow" was lifted from his own song "Pink N Yellow."

Warren says he copyrighted "Pink N Yellow" in 2008 and Khalifa copyrighted "Black and Yellow" in 2011.

The copyright infringement lawsuit was filed in federal court in Philadelphia and seeks at least $2.3 million in damages. It names Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, two other songwriters and several record companies and music publishers.

Warren's lawyer declined to comment Thursday. A spokesman for Khalifa at Atlantic Records didn't immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

STUDENT JAILED FOR ASSAULTING ACTRESS

An Upper Area Court in Jos has sentenced a 20-year old student, Adamu Yakubu, to two years imprisonment for breaking the windscreen of a car belonging to an actress, Jemila Nagudu. 

Adamu, of Government College, Jos, was convicted for smashing the windscreen of the car belonging to a Hausa film actress without any provocation contrary to section 361 of the Penal Code. 

The court, however, gave the convict an option of N3,000 fine The judge, Malam Mustapha Hassan, in his ruling, said that that the prosecution had convinced the court beyond all reasonable doubt that the convict committed the offence. 

Hassan said that the evidence tendered before the court and the confessional statement of the accused had assisted the court in reaching its decision to convict him. Earlier, the prosecutor, Gokwat Ibrahim, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 17, at Ali Kazaure Area of Jos. 

“My lord, the accused, on the fateful day, at about 12 noon, ordered the actress to leave the area or face the consequences. “When the actress, who was on a visit to her in-laws refused to leave the area, the accused used “a big stone” to smash the windscreen of her CRV jeep,” he further told the court. 

 The prosecutor said that the unidentified future partner of the actress reported the matter to Laranto police station, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect. When the case came up for hearing, the accused pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency. The judge said that the convict would be sentenced so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

Kwame-Nigezie boss Sues Hitv Boss For N17m

The boss of Nigezie, Kwame, is through with the problem ridden Hitv and its management after both parted ways. Those who should know squealed that Kwame is currently in a legal tussle to claim N17m from the management of HiTv, been the sum he is been owed by the company for his latter part of running Nigezie on the cable tv. 

 Even Kwame has maintained a sealed lip on the law suit claiming the court would decide who is right and who is wrong, many have wondered why the relationship between Toyin Subair of HiTv and Kwame of Nigezie had suddenly gone sour.

 Insiders further hinted that Kwame, who just completed a multi-million naira audiovisual studio in Ogba, is about starting up his own full TV station just like his counterpart, Tajudeen Adepetu of Soundcity.
