Wale Folarin  performed for the first time in his motherland Nigeria on November 30, 2013.

And what made it special was that his father Mr Akintimehin was also there to watch his son perform for the hundreds of guests that gathered at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.

 

Wale took time to give a shoutout to his dad who watched from backstage along with his uncle Bayo and Storm Records boss Obi Asika.

 

‘I promise to keep coming back. If y’all will have me, I’ll coming coming back. Shoutout to my dad, Mr Akintimehin do you want to take a bow for these people now? Haaa Oga!‘, Wale said in between performances.

SAD: Popular American Rapper, Wale explains why he’s never been to Nigeria until now

 

We all see he's rich and very famous now and some of us think that's how it's always been well that's a wrong thought cause like most of us he came from humble beginnings.....read up on what he went through.

 

In a radio chat with Toolz on Beatfm yesterday, Wale said the reason he’s never been to Nigeria until now was because his parents, who are both from Ondo state, were so poor they couldn’t afford a bring him home.

 

“I grew up poor. We lived in DC, in the projects. Getting a ticket to Nigeria on $20, 000 income yearly, to my family that wasn’t really… you know…like I was a 15 year old with a decent job, I’m not going to save up to go to Nigeria. That wasn’t what I was thinking when I was that age. And then I was in college and the money tight right then. And then I get this record deal when I dropped out of school, you’re running around so much you don’t even have time to see your own parents”

WoW!, the Maybach Music Group rapper, Wale, will be arriving in Nigeria today in preparation for his appearance at the ‘Step Up to VIP‘ event by Johnnie Walker holding on November 30, 2013.

 

He was meant to come last week for a free performance at Ice Prince's concert unfortunately his ticket wasn't paid for but not to worry he's coming today.

American Superstar Not Coming to Nigeria, Says His Flight Tickets Were Not Paid For

 

This is so incompetent Wale is meant to come for Ice Prince Fire of Zamani concert holding this evening November 23, 2013, but he's saying he ownt be able to make it.

 

Speaking through his label’s (Maybach Music Group) Twitter account, Wale released a statement explaining that he would not be travelling to Nigeria because apparently his flight tickets had not been booked by the organizers (Kilimanjaro Entertainment).

 

'To my Nigerian people. It saddens me to share this news but I am not able to make it to the show in Lagos on 23 Nov because the promoter did not handle logistics. I was at the airport in NYC trying to get on the flight but my tickets were not paid for‘, Wale said in the statement.

 

Wale also disclosed that he wasn’t getting paid to do the show; ‘…so even if I wanted to do a free show it would not be possible for me to get there‘.

 

 Chocolate City Music and promised that he’ll be coming to Nigeria soon ‘This is not the fault of @iceprincezamani or @choccitymusic but I will be in Nigeria soon‘.

 

Ice Prince also tweeted concerning the situation: ‘Morning Lagos! I’m sorry to say this but my brother @wale is unable to join us tonight! He’s as sad as I am, but we promise to make it up! See you guys later with all the fire and surprises in the world! #FOZ‘.

 

Yesterday, UK rapper Chip arrived Nigeria for the concert which is expected to also feature the likes of Don Jazzy, label mate M.I, Olamide, Burna Boy and others.
