"I've Been Diagnosed With Hypertension, I Am Relocating Abroad'' - Nollywood Star Reveals

 Prolific Nollywood director Kunle Afolayan recently took to his Facebook page to express his frustration about Nigeria and his plans to relocate as he could no longer bear the hardship.

Well, it looks like he's made up his mind to really relocate. In a recent interview with Netng, he said he has been diagnosed with hypertension and must relocate. When asked if his relocation would not discourage those who are looking up to him, Kunle said:

"I have been diagnosed with hypertension, so I should stay here and die because I want to impress people? It isn't about people anymore. It is now about me and my health. I have proven that certain things can be done in this country but you have to use blood and sweat. All the projects I have done, I have had to use these two. For me to achieve this, whoever is ready to use blood and sweat too might be able to achieve same feat. But we don't have the same strength. Right now I am overwhelmed in a way and I can function from anywhere. I can go to Hollywood and be lecturing African cinema or go to Gambia and be making film or move to Ghana. I love this country which is why I am still here. I discourage people form traveling abroad but health is wealth. I think it is important that I am in the right frame of mind for health reasons" he said.

Synopsis 

It’s September 1960, and with Nigeria on the verge of independence from British colonial rule, a northern Nigerian Police Detective, DAN WAZIRI, is urgently despatched by the Colonial Government to the trading post town of Akote in the Western Region of Nigeria to solve a series of female murders that have struck horror in the hearts and minds of the local community. “I may not live long”- Nollywood Actor And Producer Reveals

 Nollywood Actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, dropped a heart stopping posts on Facebook indicating that his workaholic lifestyle may eventually end his life.

 Kunle who is working round the clock to meet the October 1 deadline of his highly anticipated film “October 1″ took to Facebook to drop some of his darkest thoughts.

 ‘My Obsession with filmmaking makes me think I may not live long, I forbid it though’.

 ‘I got back to Lagos yesternight (sic) very tired and sleepy after 42days of shoot, got home ate then went to bed.

 All I see throughout my sleep are the shots I took and those that I felt I should have done differently. Woke up this morning and all I have in my head is the deadline of the trailer release which in October 1, 2013, in about 11 days and the completion of the whole project.

 Yes, am very passionate about film making but I think being too obsessed is not healthy. What do you guys think?’ Kunle battles to meet a treacherous deadline too close for comfort with fears the release date may have to be shifted.

 Along side this all-consuming film production, Kunle also plays lead character in a new film ‘Dotun’ by ace film-maker Tunde Kelani.
