I looked at it and it was true. He looked at me straight in the eye and said “of a truth you have done well but you and I know that you have not done all that you can do. He left me thinking and asking myself why I wanted to leave after the first tenure and every answer I came up with convinced me I was just thinking of myself. God reminded me my promise that I will live to serve him by serving his people.

'I Am Not An Ex Convict - Embattled Nollywood Actress Says

Actress and President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberisima has refuted claims that she is an ex-convict.

Ibinabo wants to clear the air after her fello actress Clarion Chukwurah said in an interview with Punch that Ibinabo was an ex-convict and therefore not fit to lead the Actors' Guild.

Ibinabo in an exclusive interview with TheNetng refuted the claims but however acknowledged she was imprisoned for 39 days.

"No, I am not an ex-convict, I was charged. I am in court and I am appealing"  she said
She also explained why she wrote an open letter to Clarion Chukwura.

In a telephone interview with Encomium magazine, Ibinabo said it became necessary for her to respond to all the allegations Clarion Chukwurah has leveled against her on social and mainstream media. Ibinabo says she doesn't know if Clarion has seen the letter but at this time, she is more focused on her job. The actress says anyone who holds any grievance against her should seek redress in court.

It seems Clarion Chukwura & Ibinabo Fiberesima have reconciled

At first, i thought this was an old pic but a tweet by filmmaker Onyeka Nwelue  who shared this photo on his instagram page yesterday confirmed that it was indeed a new picture. The picture comprise movie director Teco Benson with Clarion Chukwura and AGN president Ibinabo Fiberesima who has been under serious attack in recent times by Clarion Chukwura. Onyeka says he took the pic yesterday. This this will be the end of the social media fight between the ladies?

“Ibinabo is an ex-convict and not fit to lead the AGN”-Clarion Chukwurah fires back

The battle for who is fit to lead the AGN is still going on as the media fight between the president of AGN, Ibinabo and veteran actress Clarion Chukwura continues.
“I am not on the same level with Ibinabo professionally, educationally or in any other form. I find that she is deliberately misleading the
public and wanting to push the issues at stake under the table with her so-called open letter. I will not allow her to do that.
“Item ‘U’ of the electoral guideline of AGN disqualified her. No convicted person can stand for election in any post. She was convicted for manslaughter and she was given a jail sentence which she served. There is a court injunction stopping Ibinabo from parading herself as the AGN president. This is the copy of the judgment. I have it. Manslaughter has no option of fine. Her sentence was reduced from seven years to five years and we all know she went to jail. The judgment reads in part, ‘there is proof that she drove recklessly and caused the death of Dr. Sura Giwa contrary to the road traffic laws of Lagos State.’ She was drunk. How could this person be the face of AGN?”
The court injunction of 2011 and 2013 was forwarded to the presidency. The criminal conviction of manslaughter was sent to the presidency. The president is supposed to be a symbol of the supremacy of the rule of law. He disregarded the law in recognising Ibinabo as president of AGN. The president is now saying there is no law in this country. So the AGN has become an ethnic grouping. This is a professional body of actors. It is not a Niger Delta solidarity platform,” she said.
The actress said she wouldn’t have joined Ibinabo’s party to Aso Rock even if she had invited her, saying,
“Some actors have even explained to me why they followed her. They said they were taken there on a fraudulent arrangement for her to use and get what she wanted. Would she really have approached me for a thing like that?”
Clarion alleged that Ibinabo had been going from one state government house to another to “beg” for money.
“I have the data of every government house she has been to. No single chapter has seen a dime for running the guild. She went to Ondo State and she was given N500, 000. What chapter did she inaugurate in Ondo State? The guild wasn’t set up to go begging from one state government to another.”
Clarion said Ibinabo couldn’t have clocked 40 years as she claimed in her letter because,
“In 1989 when she was running Pyramid Club in Lagos, she was 22. How can she say 25 years later that she is just turning 40? I have known her a long time. I know what I am saying when I say she is not a professional actor.”
When reminded that Ibinabo had featured in some movies, Clarion said,
“That is not what makes you a professional actor. You have market women in the East who have acted in one or two movies; that doesn’t make them professional actors. I will be 35 years in this industry soon. This is the industry that has made me everything that I am. I will not stand by and watch it destroyed. People have placed their trust in me. I am an activist. People believe that I will bring justice to bear on this issue because I am afraid of nobody.”
Concerning Ibinabo’s allegation that Clarion just registered as a member of the guild few weeks ago, the veteran actor said,
“I joined the AGN in 2002. I was part of the process that brought in Zach Orji as the president of the guild and thereafter Ejike Asiegbu. When it was time for Ejike to leave, the whole thing degenerated. A caretaker committee was formed with KOK as the chairman and I as the vice Chairman. These are my identity cards. I even have a membership certificate which was signed by Segun Arinze who was the national president and Ifeanyi Dike as the BOT chairperson.
“I went to pay N5000 into the guild’s account as my dues for this year. She should provide any proof showing that I just got registered.”
Clarion also used the opportunity to fire back at Ifeanyi Dike, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the guild who she claimed had maligned her in some publications recently.
“The BOT led by Ifeanyi Dike has been the same board since the incorporation in 1999. According to the constitution, they were to serve 10 years and leave for a new board to replace them. People had become aware that the BOT members are not men of integrity and the guild wasn’t moving forward.
“They refused to leave and a court injunction was obtained in 2011. I have a copy of the injunction as you can see. The court injunction prevented them from holding any election. But they ignored the injunction and allowed themselves to be financially induced by Ibinabo to run for the election.”
Clarion said she wasn’t attacking Ibinabo just because she (Clarion) wants to contest for the AGN presidency.
“The first step is the dissolution of the BOT. When the time for election comes, there are several credible people who are prepared to run for the post. I will give my support to any credible candidate who wants the viability of every chapter. I will pass my plans and ideas to that person. It is not about me wanting to be president. I will gladly work and support the new person in an advisory role.”

Clarion Chukwura opens up On Beef With AGN President, Ibinabo Fiberesima

That there is serious beef between Ibinabo and Clarion Chukwura about the activities of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is no news but what is news is the actions taken by Ibinabo that led to the beef.
Clarion Chukwurah has seriously condemned AGN’s visit to Aso Rock led by Ibinabo Fiberesima .She has been accused by some of being jealous or trying to bring another woman down.In a new interview with Encomuim she states her reasons clearly
Thank you very much.  It gives me a great concern that we continue to face this kind of issue in this country.  Rather than determine the merit of the issues that are being raised, people will misdirect the whole point to be a personality attack. I do not have anything whatsoever against Ibinabo Fiberesima.  Ibinabo as a person is a friend of mine.  I have known her since the 80s when she was running a night club.  So, Ibinabo Fiberesima, as a person, is not the issue.  The issue is that she succeeded in a very commendable field which is accessing an appointment to see the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at a time like this when the President is engaged in all fronts.  It was a mighty opportunity that was given to her on a platter of gold.

My grouse is what did she do with it?  It’s about the Actors Guild of Nigeria.  Ibinabo Fiberesima led a delegation to see the President as AGN president. This is the constitution as amended for her (shows reporter a copy), which part of this constitution did she use that visit to actualize?  She asked for political appointment which is an attempt to destroy the guild. AGN is not a group established for lobbying for political offices. This is an association of creative people not politicians.
The constitution says, ‘We, the actors of the acting profession in Nigeria.” We’re not politicians, so AGN is not a political group.  Actors are creative people.  You did not ask the president to look into the private sector fulfilling what’s in the Nigerian constitution for the art in Nigeria for AGN, by speaking out that in the Nigerian constitution there is a proviso that once you’re running a business, a private company that’s a conglomerate or corporation or whatever, you have to be investing a certain percentage of your earnings into the art.
That is supposed to cut down your tax one way or the other.  This industry started as commerce driven, it didn’t start as a political party.  You didn’t ask the president for support on issues of legislation that could bring all the screen actors in Nigeria under one single body so that an enabling environment could be put in place for casting agencies for jobs for actors.  You went there to ask for a political appointment and a national secretariat in Abuja.
And more shocking that she led a delegation that didn’t have veterans, she led a team, which some of them were said they were not privy to the fact that she was going to read an address, asking for all these things.  So, be that as it may, that has happened.  But it has to be corrected.

Ladies Be Warned!!! : Nollywood Queen Says She's Ready To Get Married Again

President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima, in this latest interview, spoke on her career and how she has coped after her time in the prisons

When you look back at everything that has happened to you, are you fulfilled?

I am not fulfilled. I thank God for where I have reached so far in this short time.

But if I can get all I asked from President Goodluck Jonathan when the Actors Guild of Nigeria visited him, I would be more fulfilled.

How did you secure audience with the President given his tight schedule?I wrote more than 20 letters to the presidency on behalf of the guild.

I got a reply one year after. I didn’t do anything special. It was just letters that I kept sending.

I was just lucky that one eventually came through and I thank God. As much as you said the visit to the Presidency was to solicit support for the guild, but we hear that huge money also exchanged hands. We learnt you were given N2m while the other actors that went with you were given N500, 000 each…

Wow! We were not given any money. We went there for a visit. Amazingly too, most of the people that went there paid for their transportation.

We were not given any money; I can tell you again and again.

We didn’t go there for that. We didn’t go to ask for money.

We went there as a body. We are only actors. The industry needs money to make us better.

So, where is the story from?

Those complaining are the selfish ones that usually go there to collect money and share.

In their minds, that was what we went there to do. You can ask anybody you know that went for the visit. We were not given any money.

What makes you think you will even get what you asked for from the Presidency?

I am confident. There are transformations going on in most sectors. It is just that before now, the Presidency had not heard the truth about what we needed as a body.

People who had gone to represent us had not told him what we needed. I know he will redeem his promise.

Nollywood is an export item you wouldn’t want to mess with right now. It is not only about oil anymore.

Nollywood has surpassed so many things. We are on the level that everybody would have to reckon with us.

Why can’t we be like Hollywood?

Is it not amazing that after these decades, Nollywood has not really moved forward?

It is the truth. It is because we don’t have treaties.

Most of our leaders have not been able to understand what it is to be leaders.

I have gone out of the shores of Nigeria to find out why people can’t come to shoot films here and why we can’t go there.

Treaties ought to be signed so it would be on paper that they are welcome here.

Most other African countries have treaties and we don’t have, yet we have a bigger film industry.

Now, the President knows about it. He didn’t know before.

Your tenure hasn’t been devoid of controversies. Some people want you out and there are some other factions who claim you are not AGN president…

The factions are irrelevant to me. They come to me and say one thing and they go behind me and say another thing.

At a point, I had to tell them to stop coming to me because I wanted peace.

We were in court and I thought that was the better place to deal with it. The court threw their case out because they didn’t have a case.

Every leader has critics attacking him or her. You say something and people would interpret it wrongly. But I know what I am doing.

Your story is that of grace to grass and to grace again.

Did you ever think you would get over that terrible period of your life?

No. At that time, I didn’t believe so. But when I gave my life to Christ, it didn’t matter to me the state I was.

I didn’t care if it was grace or grass. I was just contented and happy with myself. That was all that mattered to me.

Do you still remember those days you were incarcerated?

My uncle told me that I should stop going down that path. I can’t go back there. You get to that point in your life where you just move on. Nothing matters any more.

I am just at peace and that is all that matters to me.

Do you still have time to feature in movies these days?

It is time-consuming, I agree.

But I still feature in movies. I have a perfect secretary general. My work is fun. I am even going to Borno State soon.

I will go with some actors and actresses. We want to go to some of the areas that have been affected by the crisis and see what we can do to help them.

We want to show them love in our own little way. I don’t want to talk about it now till we have gone and come back.

Is it true that AGN election will not take place this year because you want to continue as president?

I am a very transparent person. Election will hold. I don’t want anybody to say I did this or that eventually.

If they don’t think I am good for them, they wouldn’t have suggested this. I am a very simple person.

This is just who I am.

Are you sure you are happy?

I am happy. I am contented. I am a happy-go-lucky woman. I don’t have stress and I don’t give anybody stress.

Whatever has to be will be. We learnt you ignored Fred Amata, the father of your child, at an event the other day. Are you having squabbles?

I can never ignore Fred. Even if he is with a woman, I will go and kiss him. I will never disrespect him.

Even if I am with a man, I must always walk up to him and greet him.

Some people wouldn’t do that. I have seen people who got separated and divorced and they don’t speak to each other in public, I will never do that.

Even if we had quarrelled before the event, I would still walk up to him and greet him.

Have you ruled out marriage?

Which marriage? Please I am not marrying Fred.

What of another man?

There is an opening. When I see a man who wants to marry me, I will marry him. I want to marry please. All my children are grown-up now.

I need my own company. Even my kids ask me when I am getting married and I keep telling them I will marry when I find the man.

I have not ruled out marriage at all.
