The Fight happened While Patience and Mercy Where Shooting A film in Asaba and Mercy Johnson blamed her uncontrollable outburst on Ozokwor’s repeated utterances referring to her as an ‘ashawo’- a hoochie.
In a telephone interview which Mercy johnson Granted Years back, Mercy recounted her side of the story to NET. She noted that Patience Ozokwor was given a revealing clothe to wear on that location, apparently to depict a character in the movie that was in the making and Patience allegedly refused the outfit, stating that she is not Mercy Johnson, not an ‘ashawo’.
“I’m not a prostitute. I don’t like the name. I told her I didn’t like it”, Mercy told NET. According to her, the faceoff was escalated when Mama Gee refused to stop calling her by unpleasant name.
There were unconfirmed reports that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) was to take a disciplinary action against Mercy Johnson and Patience Ozokwor but when NET contacted the AGN president at that time, Segun Arinze via SMS, he simply stated that the issue was been sorted out in-house.
The text message read “Hello sir, I just want to know if the AGN is taking any disciplinary action against Mercy Johnson and Patience Ozokwor”.
“No it’s sorted out. Thanks”, he replied. Arinze would not comment further.
Arinze, sources said, instructed both parties not to make any further comments on the matter
According to the information gathered,they settled their rift few years After,and Mercy honored her with the very respectable title as Mother of the Day at her wedding April 2011
However,inside sources have made full Revealation of their peace making and why Mama G accepted the offer to attend her wedding.
Recall that few months after their fight,other actresses who perceived Mama G as their godmother took over the rift and started engaging in verbal war with Mercy and threatened to fight her physically anywhere they found her.
While all these were brewing,Mercy was said to have cried bitterly to her close friends and sent messages across to Mama G to stop spreading falsehood against her and inciting other actresses to fight her.
As all her attempts to extinguish the fire peacefully failed,Mercy was said to have cried to an elderly woman who hails from her state and have treated her like a daughter for many years.The elderly woman we gathered told her to be strong as the whole industry can never turn against her over one woman.
The elderly woman revealed to Mercy that Mama G will later become her very good friend.After getting the words of encouragement from the woman,Mercy returned to the industry and sent intimidating messages across to Mama G insisting that if she refused to desist from her actions,she (Mercy) will report Mama G to her powerful godmother who will settle the dispute in another way that goes beyond what meets the eye.
Subsequently,the veteran make-believe business woman,who is said to trust only in her prayers and God,was frightened so much that she allegedly went to Mercy’s family house and apologized to her for peace to reign.Eventually,Mercy accepted her extended hands of friendship and honored her with Mother of the Day during her wedding.
Two years later, the two Nollywood stars acted in a new movie, which is yet to be released.
Mercy Johnson took to twitter and posted an emotional message about what she feels working with the veteran actress. “Just shot the most emotional scene ever with Mama G. So cool. Mama G for life. I have nothing but just respect for her,” the mother of Purity posted.
