A romance threatened by cancer

Cancer is a threat to life and good living.  But in A Wish, a new film produced by Elvis Chucks, it is also a threat to love and promise of a marriage.

In the centre of the crisis is celebrated actress, Funke Akindele, whose winning streak since she produced and played a major role in Jenifa has been comparatively enduring.

The actress before now starred in The Return of Jenifa and Maami, both of which are said to have performed exceptionally at the cinemas. A Wish has also been tipped to record high numbers when it eventually hits the cinemas on December 7, 2012.

Akindele stars in the film as a banker who fell in love with an average man who later jilts her when he learns that she has been diagnosed with cancer.

“A Wish is a hilarious comedy which features Chris Okagbue (Gulder Ultimate Search 8 winner), Helen Paul (Tatafo), Bishop Imeh, Kola Olaiya and others,” a statement from the producers indicates.

Chucks once took part in the award winning family sitcom, SuperStory and also starred in some Nollywood movies before going into film making. He is also the producer of True Citizens, which featured Uti Nwachukwu;  and Victims of the Society, an advocacy flick that featured veteran actress, Joke Silva.

The statement adds that A Wish has the support of brands such as  Close up, Lifebuoy, Blue Band and Genevieve. It is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, December 1.
