It's funny Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji and Mercy Aigbe rocked the same bag lately and nobody said anything shortly after Nollywood actress-turned singer, Tonto Dikeh, shared a picture of herself (above) rocking the very popular Hermes Birkin Bag on Wednesday, she has come under scrutiny from her followers who doubt if it was indeed the original version which retails for $21,500 – about N3.8m
But this is not the first time the ‘controversial’ bag, which has been spotted with the likes of Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji and Mercy Aigbe in the past, will generate such reactions. This may not be unconnected to the fact that the coveted Birkin bag has a wait list of over a year, if it is bought directly from the manufacturer, Hermes. The bag is also a symbol of wealth due to its high price and use by celebrities.
